Getting to Know HCL
Gary Sharpe is the Chairman of the Board and owner of Health Care Logistics. He started Health Care Logistics (HCL) after leaving Roxanne Laboratories where he was Director of Government and Contract Sales for the US. Sharpe founded HCL in his own home in 1978. The spare bedroom became the office and the garage served as the manufacturing plant and warehouse.
After leaving Roxanne, Sharpe wanted to start his own business that offered hard-to-find products for the hospital and pharmaceutical markets. He began by sourcing manufacturers to provide or produce a variety of low volume, low technology products that were not available through other manufacturers. By converting hospitals to unit dose drug distribution and centralized IV production, Sharpe created a viable market for HCL’s custom products. And when a European
firm exited the specialty products business, Sharpe seized the opportunity to further his own business of unique and hard-to-find medical products.
Today Health Care Logistics (HCL) serves customers from four Central Ohio locations. The company manages over 30,000 accounts with more than 120,000 customers and continues strong growth within the US. HCL also ships worldwide to a number of international distributors in various countries.
HCL stocks more than 7,000 "unique and hard to find" items, such as boxes, bins, security seals, compounding and dispensing products, custom labels, security seals, and magnets, custom cabinets and storage, custom design foam, and unit dose packaging supplies. The company does not handle drugs or medications.
